The serial switch can is an advanced technical device which provides management for huge networks. The simplest switches can be used at home in order to share various serial devices among users. An even more advanced kind of switch would be an auto-sensing serial switch that is capable of managing large numbers of devices at one time. This helps allow IT professionals the ability to control and monitor various devices, including servers regardless of operating system as well as routers and firewalls.

There are also other devices which are used to control the non-serial hardware. In order to share printers the parallel port switch can be installed. This can also be used to connect several printers to a single computer.
