As we come further into the internet age, computer and data management becomes more and more important for businesses of all kinds and sizes. Making sure your equipment is placed in the right location, and exposed to the right temperatures, is the first thing to determine. If installed in an area susceptible to high temperatures, the computer equipment can be damaged.

Ideally, temperatures out to be between fifty and eighty degrees Fahrenheit, with low levels of humidity. If possible, putting your equipment in a separate room that can be kept clean and, if need be, locked during non-business hours, is the best idea.

Be sure you have a battery backup system, too. The possibility of power spikes and energy outages is high enough that protecting your system from related damage with a battery backup is essential.

If you can, purchase a system that permits you to track usage and the times when your equipment runs on battery power rather than a direct current, which can help you determine what your problems are in the long run.

In conjunction with your battery backup, the power should be put through a power distribution unit before it reaches your equipment, which can help separate energy among various pieces of equipment, thus protecting any one from receiving too much.
