Managing a server is not an easy job.  Server rooms tend to be small and fixing a server problem must be done quickly, especially when the server is for a production line.  Separate terminals for each computer is not only expensive, but complicated as well.  Being able to remotely manage computers and servers is a big benefit.  Remote console servers allow you to manage all computers in a network from a single computer.  Using a network and modems, a server computer can be controlled with telnet and a command line interface. Console Servers

The console server is a central point for computers in the network to communicate.  It manages serial-based services and communications devices that the server provides.  This means the network tech does not have to patch each machine separately which saves time when finding a problem with a computer.

A console server provides secure, remote access to each machine in a server room.  It also allows for control of those computers and monitoring of their operations.  This is a good solution for small or large networks.  Any problem with the network or a single computer can be fixed where there is an Internet connection or dialup Internet access.
